Paper issues were moderately
active with International down a
point at 106, Bathurst B up one
at 24, Powell River up % at 36%,

McColl rose % at 61, Interpro-
vincial Pipelines slacked off 34 at
53 and Trans-Mountain declined
a point at 61.
Minor losses were noted in the
steels, with Page-Hersey down %
at 33%.
In the construction group, Build-
ing Products fell % at 4234 and
Foundation % at 13%. Gypsum
improved % at 3412.
The beverages were fairly ac-
tive with Molson A improving
% at 3944, Walker off % at 31%,
Corby A up % at 18% and Sicks
up % at 33%, a new high.

An interest in a handful of
speculative issues accounted for
a big jump in volume during the

On index base metals were the
big losers and they were down
less than one-half point. Golds
and western oils lost less than
one-quarter.
Changes among base metals
and golds were fractional with
losses and gains ahout balancing.
In western oils Calgary and Ed-
monton gained ec at 30% but Pa-
cific Pete was off 4%, Home Oil
B, % ‘and Royalite %.
Index losses: golds .22 to 84.28;
base metals .47 to 164.97; west-
ern oils .26 to 187.55.

Among the base metals, As-
bestos moved up 1% at 3234, Smelt-
ers declined % at 2012 and Inter-
national Nickel fell off a point
at 80%.
In the refining oils and pipe-
lines, BA Oil moved up 1% at
42%, Imperial fell off 3% at 44%,
McColl rose % at 61, Interpro-
vincial Pipelines slacked off 34 at
53 and Trans-Mountain declined
a point at 61.
Minor losses were noted in the
steels, with Page-Hersey down %
at 33%.
In the construction group, Build-
ing Products fell % at 4234 and
Foundation % at 13%. Gypsum
improved % at 3412.
The beverages were fairly ac-
tive with Molson A improving
% at 3944, Walker off % at 31%,
Corby A up % at 18% and Sicks
up % at 33%, a new high.
