    NEW YORK (AP)—The stock
    market continued to flounder un-
    evenly Friday with more stocks
    down than up, but nevertheless
    reached a 1958 high average.

    This was due primarily to a
    leap of 5% by Kroger Co. and an
    advance of 3% by Eastman Ko-

    In the refining oils and pipe-
    lines, BA Oil moved up 1% at
    42%, Imperial fell off 3% at 44%,
    McColl rose % at 61, Interpro-
    vincial Pipelines slacked off 34 at
    53 and Trans-Mountain declined
    a point at 61.

    Minor losses were noted in the
    steels, with Page-Hersey down %
    at 33%.

    In the construction group, Build-
    ing Products fell % at 4234 and
    Foundation % at 13%. Gypsum
    improved % at 3412.

    The beverages were fairly ac-
    tive with Molson A improving
    % at 3944, Walker off % at 31%,
    Corby A up % at 18% and Sicks
    up % at 33%, a new high.

    ket was hit by profit-taking Fri-
    day and fell off in all sections
    amid active tnading.

    An interest in a handful of
    speculative issues accounted for
    a big jump in volume during the
    afternoon. New Mylamaque fell
    just short of the 1,000,000 share

    Nealon traded 368,000 shares
    and was unchanged at 6 cents
    after gaining two cents. New
    Hosco gained five cents at $1.68
    on rumors of an underwriting.
    It traded 187,350 shares.

    On index base metals were the
    big losers and they were down
    less than one-half point. Golds
    and western oils lost less than
    one-quarter.

    Changes among base metals
    and golds were fractional with
    losses and gains ahout balancing.
    In western oils Calgary and Ed-
    monton gained ec at 30% but Pa-
    cific Pete was off 4%, Home Oil
    B, % ‘and Royalite %.

    Index losses: golds .22 to 84.28;
    base metals .47 to 164.97; west-
    ern oils .26 to 187.55.

    owned by William Fougere and
    containing 4% acres of land a
    little mare or less and being
    part of Lot No. 27 in the Re-
    served Lands adjoining the Roy-
    alty of Georgetown and being
    the lands devised by Peter. Gor-
    don Ross to his wife Jenetta Ross
    and to his children.
