Cone besides.â We wonder If the Patriot knows any-
oe about this affair, and whether he believes the
âpeople â alluded to would be anything the worse of
paving 4 share of religious education imparted to them,

equally surprised aud delighted at the great major-

establish a âPapal dominationâ in Ireland. ** On
the contrary, with adescent as sudden as the fall

of the âerecd of the minorityâ, Their whole cler'cal sys-

An amusing trial has taken place in France. It ap-
pears thatâat Rheims, where Madame Cliquot, whose
champagne is celebrated over Europe, resides, there js
one M. Blondean, a wine manufacturer, who, being an
eye witness of the prodigious number of eases and
bottles dospatched to all parts of the world from the
lady's storehouses, conceived the idea of finding out a
widow of the game name, and making her a partner in
his firm. He succeeded in lighting upon her, and actu-
ally persuaded another Widow Cliquot to join him and
enablo him to reehristen his firm Veuve Cliquot, The real
original widow brought the case before the Tribunal of
Commerce, and claimed exclusively the style and title
of Veuve Cliquot; but did not entirely succeed. A
court of law, however, appreciated M, Blondeau's in-
nuity in inventing his widew, with more severity, and
ided that inasmuch as this second Widow Cliquot
took an active pirt inthe managementand operations
ofthe firm of Blondean et Cie, but simply gave it her
namo for the sole and obvious parpose of setting up an
advorso title to which it had vo moral claim, her name
must cease to appear in connection with the firm of
Blondeau et Cie., and condemned her jointly with Blon-
deau to pay the costs of the suit, and a sam of 3), 000
es damages to the Widow Cliquot.
