SUMMERSIDE GOING AHEAD!
Tr is our pleasing duty this week to
record the fact that our citizens are de-
termined to do all imtheir power to get
laws passed for the proper management
of the affairs of the Town. A_ public
meeting was held, as intimated in our
last, on last Thursday evening,to consider
whether the Fire Actâ now expiredâ}
should be renewed or not. âThe meeting
decided that the Act, having been enact-

'Y, Kirwin and 'T. B. Hall,was appointed
to draw up a series of resolutions,expres-
sive of the wishes of the people.
An adjourned meeting was held in
Strongâs Hall, on Saturday evening last,
âto hear and take action upon the report
of the Committee. James Campbell,
Esq., was called to the chair, and Thomas
Kelly, Esq., to the Secretary's table.â
The meeting was one of the most influ-
ential ever held hore. Nearly all the
merchants and other business men were
present. âThe resolutions were evidently
ptepared with great care, and if endorsed
by the powers that be will place in the
hands of the people power to manage
their own affairs in their own way, with-
out the expense which would necessarily
attach to in Incorporation Agtâwhich
was by them considered premature.
Owing to the press on our space of legis-
lative matter, we are cnable to give the
resolutions in full, but we give the sub-
stance of them in a concise form, kindly
prepared and handed us by the Secretary,
and our readers will be able to form as
good an idea of their import as if we
published them in extenso :-â

tion of the inhabitants as may be ascertained

'Y, Kirwin and 'T. B. Hall,was appointed
to draw up a series of resolutions,expres-
sive of the wishes of the people.
An adjourned meeting was held in
Strongâs Hall, on Saturday evening last,
âto hear and take action upon the report
of the Committee. James Campbell,
Esq., was called to the chair, and Thomas
Kelly, Esq., to the Secretary's table.â
The meeting was one of the most influ-
ential ever held hore. Nearly all the
merchants and other business men were
present. âThe resolutions were evidently
ptepared with great care, and if endorsed
by the powers that be will place in the
hands of the people power to manage
their own affairs in their own way, with-
out the expense which would necessarily
attach to in Incorporation Agtâwhich
was by them considered premature.
Owing to the press on our space of legis-
lative matter, we are cnable to give the
resolutions in full, but we give the sub-
stance of them in a concise form, kindly
prepared and handed us by the Secretary,
and our readers will be able to form as
good an idea of their import as if we
published them in extenso :-â

tion of the inhabitants as may be ascertained
