Tur Steamers of the P. EB. Island 8S. N.
Company have again altered their time.
They will hereafter make their trips each
week from Charlottetown to Summerside and
Shediac, and return, three times. ‘This new
arrangement, although it may give passen-
gers and shipners leaving here a little trouble,
will be found to be a good one for passengers
going to St. John and the United States, ‘The
steamers call at Holman’s wharf, while the
    other wharf is undergoing repairs.

WE were shown yeeterday some very large
new potatoes, from the garden of the Rev.
    Mr. Frame.

We learn that the Mackerel are coming in
very plenty this season, At a stage owned by
the Hon. G. W. Howlan, near Cascumpee
Harbor, the boats took 45 barrels mackerel on
Friday ind Saturday last. At Miminigash en
Saturday last, one man and his boy took 1000
mackerel, and a number of otrers took from
$00 to 600 each. Mr, Matheson’s stage there
is doing well. The prospect thus far is very
    encouraging.

Tue Examination of the Convent de Notre
Dame, at Tignish, took place on Saturday
last. A great number of persons were pic-
sent. We are informed that the Examination
    was very satisfactory.

Te crops to the Westward of the Island
look well, and very promising. ‘The carly
sown wheat especially is good. Potatoes, in
some places, have missed, but still there will
be an average crop, Several persons have
commenced hay making. We noticed the
mowing machine at work in avery fine field
of hay kelonging to Herbert Bell, Bsq., of
Alberton, while passing that way last Monday.
‘The vast improvements that are being made
through the Western oad and different other
parts West, are really astonishing, We do
not wonder that so many old farmers from the
Kastward are purchasing tarms in the West.

It is said that Fruit will be very plenty tuis
    Summer.
Remember the Auction Sale of Mr. An-
drew Campbell, Lot 16, on ‘Tuesday next.
