    In the Spanish Constitutional Cortes yes-
    terday, Serrano, Prine Minister, officially
    announced the resignation of the Provision-
    al Government, General Prim, Minister
    of War, in an address assured the House
    that the late dynasty would never reascend
    the Throne. . Admiral Topete, Minister of
    Marine Affairs, asked the House to pass
    an act of indemnity for the Navy for its
    acts during the recent Reyolution, Snb-
    sequently the house passed a vote of thanks
    to the roricinng Provisional Government,
    although the Republican members opposed
    it with unanimity. The Heuse also by a
    large vote, intrusted Marshal Serrano with
    full Exeeutrve power'for the time being,
    and granted him the authority necessary
    for the formation of a new Ministery.

    General.Caballero Deroda is to succeed
    Gea, Dulce as Governor General of Cuba.

    New York, Feb. 24,

    Despatches of yesterday trom Cuba state
    that a deeree is to be issued imposing an
    export duty from: the Ist March aext ol
    50c. per box and $1.25 per hogshead on
    Sugar, $1 per bale on Tobacco, und 50e.
    per thousand of Segars, and an addition of
    6 per cent, ou all internal taxes, the pro-
    eceds of which ave ta be paid weekly to
    the Spanish Bank to secure an advance of
    $5.000,000 to the Government.

    The Female Labor question was discuss-
    ed in Congress yesterday, and it was do-
    cided to incréase salaries of the female
    clerks to $1,200 per annum,

    ‘A Hamilton newsboy, while passing along
    King Street; on Tuesday evening, crying out
    —'* Here's yor Times” was suddenly buried
    about two feet under the surface of an ava-
    lanche of snow, weighing over a ton, froma
    roof. The spectators werd anxiodsiabout the
    little fellow’s safety, until they heard a piping
    Ybice continuing the refratn—*'cnly a penny ;
    and the irrepressible urchin trotted off again.

    A most painful calamity happened in Goder-
    ich Township, on Tuesday evenjig late inthe
    day, Mrs. kinmerson, inthe absence of her
    husband, went to attend to the cattle in the
    barn, She left in the house two small child-
    ren and an infant. Hearing their erie’, the
    mother hurried to the house, to find the in-
    t.rior in flames. The infant was burnt to
    death, but the two old@t esuaped. The house
    and contents were entitely consumed.—J/z,
