    Public Mesting at West Point.
Alarge and influential meeting of the in-
lititants of Lot 8 was held at the Louse of

Mr. John Stewart, sen., West Point, on

Wednesday, the 4th day of December, at 3

cock, p.m, for the purpose of taking into

consideration matters relating to the Wharf

atthat place. The metting wis organized
ty calling Mr, Archibald Ramsay to the chair,
It was then brought to the notice of the meet-
jag that Mr. MeFadyn, the present contractor,
had left the Island, and fears were entertaine |
that unless the people were alive to their in-
terests , the Wharf might be allowed to remain
in ita present unfinished state, There was a
    pretty general expressiou of dissatisfaction
on the part of the wiecting with Mr. MePadyn.
ag a wharf-builder, and it was hinted that
judging from the way in which he carried on
the work, he never could have intended to
complete his contract. It was argued thit a
good and substantial Wharf could be built
from the fact that a half finished block had
weathered the storms of the past scason,
some of which had been very severe, Tt was
also argued that the Goyernment in all fa
ness were bound to finish the wharf, from the
fact that ÂŁ150 subscribed by the people had
heen nearly every shilling collected by Me-
Fadyn, and that this qmount lad been sub-
scribed and paid by the people, with the
    understanding that the Government would
build a wharf for them. It was moved and
earried unanimously that a memorial be pre-
sented to Government representing the views
of this meeting, and in wrespectful manner to
urge upon thei the necessity of tuking imme-
diate steps for having the Wharf completed
as soon as it would be in their power to do #0.

A Commitive ting of five was appoint-
ed to carry out the foreguing resolution, viz:
Arthur Ramsay, D.C. Riansay, and 1e3
McLellan, Esqs., aud Mess John Crawford
    and John Auld,

Ti was then ae and carried that a report
of this mceting be prepared and forwarded to
the Summerside pipers for publication, after
    which the meeting broke wp.
