te Mr. Wittsam Leruray, of Wilmot
Creek, disposed of 2687 weight of Pork,
on Wednesday last, for which he received
5d per lb.—John Lefurgy, Esq., being the
purchaser, This was» very large quan-
tity of pork for one farmer raise, but we
believe that it pays well. We wonderthat
more of our farmers do not turn their at-
tention to the raising of all kinds of stock,
when the markets and prices are so good.
We heard a farmer say the other day that
nothing paid better than raising sheep, and
no doubt Mr. Leturgy will say the sume of
    hogs.

ta" We never have seen more shipping
at the whuris than there is at present, At
the wharf of J. L. Holman, Esq., there are
no less than five square-rigged vessels, and
two or three at Queen's wharf, all loading
and bound for the Old Country.

te A great many complaipts have
reached us lately from Lot 16, of the irre-
gularity with which the mail bag tor th
place is delivered. Who's fault is this?
We hope it will be looked into and re-
    medied immediately,

te Last night we had a heavy gale
accompanied with frost and snow. Some
three or four inches of snow is now on the
    ground,

tar Tur Brig Zuleika, Finlayson, master,
arrived here from Liverpool, on ‘Tuesday

    Jast, with a general cargo.

Be Captain Jimes Moore, formerly of
Lot 49, met witha very serious accident while
taking in a number of grave stones at Shediac,
ntew days ago. By some mismianigement
he unhappily got his hand entangled in tie
anachinery’ connected with the crane on the
whart. On his return here, Dr. Price found
it necessury to amputate two of his fingers.

p@ℱ A paragraph in the last Jonrnal, in-
formed the public that the ‘* Ladies Beneyo-
lent Society in Summerside in connection
with St. Mary’s Episcopal Church,” among
other charitable acts, had * relieved three
Presbyterian families.” ‘his is, no doubt,
the fact. ‘There is, however, another fact
connected withthe above, which the paragraph
referred to did not publish to the world, viz:
    that Presbyterians and other denominations,
as well as Episcopalians, contributed to the

funds of this Society, which was understood |

by the former at the time of its inaugeration,
“not to be in connection with any particular
    Church.”—Com.

1807 ha took part inthe expedition against
Copenhagen. In yarious parts of the world
he served his country as an officer in the Ar-

tained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Short-
ly after his promotiou, Lieut. Colonel Stewart

    From L, J. Racine, Esq.

of La Minerve. Montreal, ‘ Having experi-
enced the most gratifying resu ts fromthe use
of Dr Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, Lam
induced to express the great confidence which
T have in its.gfficacy, For nine months Iwas
most cruelly afflicted with a severe and obsti-
nate cough, ompanied with acute pain in
the side, which did not leave me summer or
    winter. ‘Che symptoms increased alarmingly,
and so reduced was I that t could walk bata
few steps without resting to recover from the
pain and fatigue which so slight an exertion
occasioned At this juncture I commenced
taking the Balsam, from which [found imme-
diate relief, and after having used tour botdes
I wis completely restored to health, 1 hads
also used the Balsam in my family andi d-
ministered it to my children with the happiest
resuits. Lamsure that such Canadians as
use the Balsam can speak in its favor, It i-
