    SUPREME COURT,

The prisoners convicted at the last sitting
of the Court at St. Eleanor’s were sentenced |:
by Judge Deters as follows :—

Mary Ann Gay, guilty of Larceny, three
months imprisonment in the common dail.

months imprisonment in the Common Jail.

Pliilip McNulty, guilty of an attempt to
    commit argon, twelve months imprisonment
    in Common Jail,

The Grand Jury, we understand, presented
quite a number of persons for selling spiritu-
ous liquors without license, and for otherwise
    infringing the liquor law.

    CLIFTON HOU
Ir will be seen by an advertisement in
another coluinn that the ‘* Clifton House” is
re-opened. ‘This will be a great convenience
to the people of New London. We are well
acquainted with both the young men who,
the other day, left Summerside to seck their
fortune among the New Londoners. We were
not near cnough to them when they departed
to throw an old shoe after them, but we don't
the less heartily wish them good luck. Mr,
Johnston, being & native of New London, does
not need a recommendation from us—the
people there know him better thin we do—
but Mr. Schurmuan is a stranger, and our good
word will do hit no harm. We have known
him now a long while, and do not hesitate to
pronounce him one of the right sort. Those
who deal with him will find him a clever, off-
handed feliyw—-one who would scorn to do a
mean or it dirty trick. We are no prophet,
but from what ‘we know of Mr. Schurman,
and from cur Knowledge of the good people of
New Londun, we venture to say thit they
    will,eretmany months have elapsed,think very
highly of nim, both as aman and as a mer-
    chant, .

TONS PICTOU SLACK COAL] stusers, Rogers & Co,

    | Gentlenen—I think its duty I owe to you
and the public, to state the tollowing facta, ae
well tor the benefit of humanity as in justice
‘to yoursel¼—-although it should have been
‘done long before this; but better late than
    | never.
    | About four or five years ago I had a cancer
{in my breast, which had been coming on for
    | long time Lcfore but at lust it became very

puintal, with sharp and severe pains d-rting
‘Through it at certain times. I applied to bey-
    | eral doctors who advised that it should be cus
    | out; and being raid to submiit to the opera
j tion, and hearing that you bad cured many
cancers, I, ag you know, applied to you and
submitted to your treatment, and used your
medicine, and ina few months was thoroughly
cured, and have been in perfect health ever
since. I wish this to be made public for the
    benetit of others.

    Yours with much gratitude,
    ELIZABETH RYAN,

We know of no worse case—judging from
the description given by letter—than a son ot
    W. 3. Weldon, Esq., of Kouchibougnac, N
    B. He was reduced to a mere skelvton, He
suffered mostintense pain for many months
His leg was ulcerated, and the bone diséased
a large ulcer on hischin and fuce, Medicina,
and skill utterly failed, until all hope of say-
ing his life was gone. Mr. Weldon’s was a sor-
rowful house, no doubt, until our wonderful
medicine dispelled the gloom. The lad ie
now néarly well, smart, cheerful and happy
‘The perents too look more cheerful, and
happy, and have lighter hearts, wa judge by
thy cheering tone of their letters. Itis re-
freshiut to us to be thus the instruments of
vood to anzicted hunianity. What care we
for the slandecs of the unprincipled! Our
motto is onward. Qur business to save hu-
