    flower at Mermaid on May 9 (JDM, RHP). Pin cherry and service berry were in flower
    on May 13 in Donagh (JDM). Rhododendron and first wild rose in flower on May 22 in
    Johnston's River (JDM). Red oak and Butternut in flower on May 22 (JDM).

    Morning Cloak butterflies were reported in Bethel on Apr. 26 (TR) and in Sherwood on
    approximately May 1 (EC). Cabbage Butterfly in Charlottetown on May 5 (EC). Azure
    Blue Butterfly reported at Morell on May 4 (MK). The first black flies of the
    season appeared in Donagh on May 6 (JDM). June beetles appeared in Donagh on May 2.

    Wood Frogs - heard at Bethel on Apr. 2 (TR) and migrating over road during heavy rain
    on Apr. 17; Spring Peepers heard at Mount Albion on Apr. 12 (HJ) and a few calls
    heard in Donagh on Apr. 14 with full chorus, migration and window climbing on Apr.
    17. Calls of both heard in Pond near corner of 48 Road and Route 1, Jenkins Pond,
    Walsh's Pond on Road to Dromore, and Pond at Auburn. Tree frogs calling in pond by
    railway right of way on Wisener property in Watervale and Spring Peepers calling in
    Wisener's Pond on Apr. 18 (JDM, JJ). Northern Leopard Frog seen crossing the road at
    Glenfinnon Bog on Apr. 23rd (JDM). TR reported them first singing in Bethel on May
    7th. American Toad commenced singing on May 1st in Donagh (JDM).

    American Smelts - in creek in Pownal on Apr. 12 (BBu), at Johnston's River on Apr.
    19, and near Pisquid River bridge on Apr. 20th (JDM). Striped Bass - newspaper
    report of 20 pounder caught on Hillsborough River in Late April.

    MAMMALS: Bats were seen in Morell on May 3 (MK).

    BIRDS: Northern Gannet - 74 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE); Great Cormorant - 4
    at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE); Double-crested Cormorant - 1 flying over
    Hillsborough Bridge on Mar. 31 (DO); Great Blue Heron - 1 at Glenfinnon on Mar. 26
    (JDM), 1 at Fullerton's Creek Marsh on Apr. 17 (JDM), 1 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa,
    SE); ganas Seay 1 at North Lake for 2 weeks in Apr. (GMacI); Canada Geese -
    several flocks arrived at Tryon marsh on Mar. 2 (RH), 4 arrived at Ellen's Creek on

    Mar. 6 (JDM), 300 at Tryon marsh on Mar. 8 (B&RH), back at Kildare River in early
    Mar. (TGA), large flocks in fields and in air near Summerside between Mar. 30 and
    Apr. 17 (RHP), flocks of 100 to 700 in fields between Kensington and Miscouche on
    Apr. 14 (JDM), large numbers of geese in fields at Malpeque in early to mid-Apr.

    (SH), 4 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE), pair calling in Donagh in early to mid-May
    (JDM) ; 1 probable escapee at Ellen's Creek on Mar. 7 to 10 with
    Canada Geese (CS,EM,GH); Ring-necked Duck - 9 at Fullerton's Marsh on Apr. 12 (DO),
    3 at Portage on Apr. 23 (JDM); Oldsquaw - 229 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE) ;
    Common Eider - 471 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE); White-winged Scoter - 331 at
    North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE); Surf Scoter - 3 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE);
    UID Scoters - 187 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE); Black Scoter - 185 at North
    Cape on Apr.18 (GMa, SE); Red-breasted Merganser - 109 at North Cape on Apr.18 (GMa,
    SE) ; Northern Goshawk - 1 chasing Rock Doves at South Freetown on Apr. 26 and 1
    caught Rock Dove on Apr. 30 (DO); Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1 being mobbed by 6 crows at
    Hillsborough Bridge (DO), 1 chasing starlings at Crossroads feeder on Feb. 9, Mar.
    10, Mar. 17, & Mar. 25 (DO), 1 on Apr. 12 at Crossroads (DO), 1 at North Cape on
    Apr.18 (GMa, SE), 1 at South Freetown on Apr. 26 (DO), 2 on wire near Flat River on
    Apr. 27 (EC), 1 at Donagh on May 7 (JDM); Bald Eagle - 2 mature eagles at Bacon Cove
    on Mar. 25 (FH), 1 in New Haven on Apr. 15 (DA); Northern Harrier - 1 at Lake Verde
