    Tue Loxpon Quarrerty Review for January has
    been received from the Leonard Scott Publishing Co.
    New York. Its contents are :—1. Charles Lamb and
    some of his Companions; 2, ‘The Cholera Conference ;
    8 Books of Fiction fer Children; 4. Crime in the
    State of New York; 5. The Week's Republic in Paler-
    mo, 1866; 8. Game and Game Laws; 7. Ultra Ritual-
    ism; 8. Yankee Humor; 9, English Democracy and
    Trish Fenianism. This No. gives a very fair estimate of
    the writings and genius of Wm. Hazlett, Leigh Hunt,
    Coleridge and Chas. Lamb. In the case of Coleridge.
    the estimate set upon his genius andinfluence would ap-
    pear to be too high; but the sketch of Lamb is one of
    the most pleasant, genial and truthful that we have read
    in biographical or critical literature for a long time.—
    We would not begrudge the yearly subscription of the
    London Quarterly for this one article.
