General’s Medal for General Pro
ficiency in Grade X. Miss Mar-
garet Jean Buchanan, delivered
the Valedictory at the closing ex-
ercises of Georgetown High
School for the term 1957-58.

These were held in the Town
Hall on Friday evening, June 27
with a capacity crowd of citizens
in attendance. Mr. Howard S.
MacLean, Chairman of the Trus-
tee Board acted as Chairman for
the occasion, Seated on the stage
were: Mr. James MacConnell,
member of the Board of Trustees
Mrs, Edward Easton, President
of the Home and School Associa-
tion, who presented the prizes;
Mr. K. Lapp, Provincial Chair-
man of the Red Cross Swimming
and Water Safety Programme,
who presented Certificates, Med-
allions and Awards of Merit from
the Royal. Life Saving Society,
The graduation class were also
seated on the stage,

The programme included an
opening chorus ‘‘O Canada”; re-
citation, “Epitaph To The Old
Red school’’ by Corinne Lavers;
recitation, by Clair MacDonald:
choral reading. ‘‘Grey and White
by the pupils of Grade 3 A;
Chorus; “Tammy” by Senior
Girls and recitation by Phyllis
MacNeill.

Miss Joan Murphy’ gave an in-
teresting and complete report. of
he year’s activities, covering all

social events. Remarks were giv-
en by the Chairman and by Mr.
J. A. B. MacConnell, a former
principal of Georgetown School.
