     The North NuVfl Bcotla Highlanders (3rd Division) 
     
     is a Ctlliipflsltfl Battalion formed from the 18th In- 
     
     lantry Brigade oi’ the Non-Permanent Active Militia 
     
     and comprises Companies Irom Pictou County, Cape 
     
     Breton Island, and from Cumberland, Coieeheeter 
     
     and Hunts Counties, N. 8., u well as from Prince 
     
     Edward Island. It is commanded by Lieut. Colonel 
     
     H. W. Murdock, Truro, N.S., a iormer President 
     
     o! the Canadian Infantry Association. Second in 
     
     command is Major A. W. MacKenzie, lately secre- 
     
     tary-managu c! the Maritime Winter Fair. 
     
    

    
     In the last War, the only Highland battalion to 
     
     go overseas Irom the Maritime Provinces was the 
     
     55th. The North Nova Scotia Highlanders isacounter- 
     
     part oi the old 85th, the main exception being that 
     
     the new Battalion contains a distinctive Prince Ed- 
     
     ward Ialand Ctmbony. 
     
    

    
     Since its Iormation u an oveueu force the 
     
     Battalion has been on active aervioe on the main- 
     
     land and has won an enviable reputation Ior e!- 
     
    

    
     iiciency and discipline.
