Brown Upon His Return to His In Litllc York. The reception in honor of Corpl. H. H. Browne. late of the R. U. R.,of South Africa, was held Tuesday night in York " o Hull. The weather and roads being fnvor~ li able the room was more than comfortably I o filled. The hall was beautifully decor-’ ated with flags and ever-greens. On the' the wall were thewords " Welcome Home" 3 artistically designed. Conspicuous among the guests assembled were Rev. Mr. Hicksund Mrs Hicks and the relatives and ‘ friends of Mr. Brown who occupied seats on the platform. The dainties prepared by the ladies and the entertainment fur-f nished by talent of York and Union was \ equal to, if not superior in quality to that of previous occasions. Major Crockett in opening extended to Corpl. Brown a very hearty and sincere welcome. He referred to the circumstances under which Mr. Browne left us; the good ac- count which he together with the other ‘ members or the R. C. R. gave of them- selves while in South Africa. and of the _high position he has held and will con- i ‘ tinue to hold in the estimation of all who know-him. He was a. general f.svorite.` No settlement or locality in Canada hadi a better representative on the velts of l South Africa than Little York. Mr. to the echo. \Vords failed to impress his appreciation of the kindness shown him since coming home. After some preli- menury remarks of a highly cornplimentry 1 ‘character he proceeded to give a brief but very interesting sketch of his_experi» ences. His references to the grim realities of war were very touching. There is nothing worse than victory but defeat. The sndest and most impressive part of asoldier’s duty is the burial of the dead. THe sacrificed home and loved ones at duties call and should he ever be called 'upon again he was ready to go. Mr. Brown was listened to with breathless -'.- .--_ . lndigestion f ann Dyspepsia Url' Henry Moore, Pickering, Ont., states :-"I used three boxes of Dr.” C`:1a:=e's Kidney-Liver Pills for Con- stipation and Stomach Troubles, and never found anything to compare with them.
