Well the World Series is over and surprise, surprise the Yankees won again. There must have been for- tunes made at the long shot tables in Las Vegas. At least the Mets managed to pull off one win and it wasn’t the Atlanta Braves reppin’ the national league yet again. Only 999 more to go for a Yankees sweep of the Third Millennium. One thing I don’t under- stand is that Roger Clemens threw a piece of a bat at Mike Piazza and didn’t get ejected. What that hell is with that shit? Rasheed Wallace of the Portland Trailblazers got two technical fouls and tossed from a basketball playoff game for look- ing at the referee the wrong way. They said that Clemens unintentionally threw the bat. How the hell do you pick up a piece of a broken bat and unintentionally throw it? I know baseball players are not geniuses but it is pretty hard to mistake a piece of broken wood with a small round spherical white ball. Saku Koivu of the Montreal Canadians is out yet again because of injury. This makes it every sea- son except his first that he has missed time due to injury. Last year Koivu only played 24 games; missing over half the season. Would somebody please get this kid a glass of milk? Either that or tell him that in North America hockey players are allowed to wear protective gear. What really sucks ass is that he is one of the Habs’ best players and was off to a good start this season before getting hurt again. And finally it appears that for the most part the Canadian sport media and parking lots are complete opposites. Our sports media does not believe in putting handicapped athletes. up front or anywhere else for that matter. At the Paralympics in Sydney, Canadian athletes have picked up 93 medals and are in the top 5 in the metal standings, yet hardly get a mention in sports reports across the nation. This is far more impressive than the Official Summer Shames, which had full televised coverage for two weeks and even interrupted The Simpsons everyday.
