sources ofthe citizens’ pride. It has

pork-packing establishments in the
Dominion. On its west side is Victoria
Park-a favorite summer resort-while
on the east are the magnificent new
Exhibition Buildings and Driving Park.
, Chief among its public squares is Queen
Square in the centre of the city, beauti-
fully laid out with blooming plants of
every description, fountains, and well
arranged walks, and enlivened with a
hand of music during the summer even-
ings. The rural scenery in the vicinity
of Charlottetown is charming, and
horses for driving are abundant at very
low prices. Boats can also be hired,and
steamers run regularly on the bays and
rivers, affording most pleasant excur-
_ sions. The principal hotels are Davies,
Queen, and Revere. '
Summerside has about 4000 'inhab-
itants. It is situated on beautiful Be-
deque Bay. It has the largest and finest
departmental store in the Maritime Pro-
vinces,besides having other large retail
stores. It has an E-ectric Light Plant,
and a water works system and sewer-
age are being agitated for. The hotels
are-Clifton. Russ, and Campbell.
Georgetown and Souris have a popu-
