Brown and T. D. McKellar, of Whatcom were among the passengers who c imc ont bythe Ura. Rueben Brown opened a bench cfaim on the Bonanza, opposite No. 7. He was, besides, the discoverer of the Eureka, and had been an aclive man during his three yeirs stay ln the Klondike. The party first. went to Circle City. On the Bench claim they cleared up $30,000 and after paying wages, royalty. etc.. Brown had $12,000 or $13,000 remain- ing, which he brought out in gold dust. -David Brown, who had been in there a year, had a -$10,000 lay on Eldorado with Mcliellar , and they had also been working for wages for the lirst-n1en- tloned of the party. They believe there was between $500,000 s-id s`s00.000 in gold on board. John Creits of Seattle, went north a year ago. He had a bench claim on Bonanza and held the property at. the price of 830,000. He only brought out ,afew thousind dollars, but intends `go'11g baek again, and his general opinion _of the gold fields is every optimistic. There have recently been some small finds, and people who went in this spring are among the lucky ones who have secured good bench cliims. The usual turnout ot these new claims was from one to two ounces per day. A Parker, of St. Paul, told a reporter that the French gulch bench properties are claiming ri good deal of attention and will probably make n. good show- ing. The year’s output at Dawson is belived to be $10,000,000, from the latest figures, but Dominion and Hunker Creeks will not show up for what they are really worth. until after they are more thoroughly worked and prospected th's winter. There is a good sale at prices mentioned above for claims among companies and their representa- tives at Dawson. Two well~known Nanaimo miners named Kufier and Gibbs, who formely worked in the Vancouver Coal Co111pany's mines. are credited with being wealthy men. They _had 810.000 apiece, and Gibbs is also credited with having many drafts as referred to bythe captain. Another _source says that Gibbs brought t between $25,000 and $30,000. hey were in the country a year and a h lf.
