     Prince Edward Island Provincial Parks has a series_of programs 
     
     and events planned.for-this winter that are as varied as the 
     
     weather has been. While Provincial Parks are open year_round the 
     
     three that have the majority of organized aCtivity in winter are 
     
     Brookvale; Brudenell, and Mill River-Provincial Parks. - 
     
    
   
   
    
     Many*exciting things-have happened at Brookvale Provincial Ski 
     
     Park‘over the past few years with the building of an entirely new 
     
     Nordic facility and trail system. In addition at the Alpine cen- 
     
     ter the hill redevelopment and addition of approximately fifty 
     
     vertical feet plus the installation of the quad chair'lift should 
     
     make for_an exciting year of skiing.‘ . ' . 
     
    
   
   
    
     The official opening of the Alpine site is scheduled.for January 
     
     25, 1992 and in addition to the opening ceremonies there will be 
     
     a Masters Alpine Clinic-and Race.- Guest coach_will be-Karen 
     
     Stemmel. Happening at the same time at the Nordic site is Ski 
     
     Fest'92 which is a fundraising event for the Heart Foundation and 
     
     promises to be the gala skiing event of the year. ‘ 
     
    
   
   
    
     Brudenell and Mill River Provincial Parks offer, in addition to 
     
     Cross country ski programs, a Variety of interesting interpreé 
     
     tive programs and are ideal sites for bird watching er ski or 
     
     snowshoe hikes. The newly opened self guided Living and Learning 
     
     Interpretive trail at Brudenell should be-on your list.of must do

     This Winters Natural Pathways program promoting winter activities 
     
    
   
   
    
     on Prince Edward Island has been well reCeived and brochures-are 
     
     available in sport stores throughout Atlantic Canada. Direct 
     
     mail campaigns and attendance at the Halifax Ski Show have in- 
     
     creased the awareness of the island as a winter.destination
