I-IOLMAN'S FURNITURE WINDOWS Woln-ut WATCH METALLIC YARNS USED IN HIGH STYLE BUGS New York - The trend this sea- son in floor coverings is toward further development in new tex- tured effects which began just after the war. Design interests depends mainly on the variations of weave rather than colorful pattern. Round wire carpet is growing in interest. Carved designs are still strong. and band and machine carving has spread from carpet borders to all-over designs. An in- teresting new note in decorative high fashion floor coverings —- in line with the return to eleganc is the use of metallic yarns. Although tlorais are still in the limelight, the new: in cotton rugs this season is primarily in designs achieved through contrasting tex- tural affects-combinations of hig and low pile, cut and uncut an twists. Here can be found more modern designs, vibrant colors in plaids, simple florals on plain pan- els. The use of Orientals is grow- ing much wider in scope so that they are now being adapted not only to different period back- grounds. but also are ued effec- tively in strictly modern settings. l (fash prircs: l Oats.
