The Grim Reaper’s Work Among the Youthful and the Old The death at Boston on Saturday of Dr. W. G. Barke will be mournei by a large circle of friends. The deceased was the youngest son of Captain Burke, of George- town, and a brother of Rev. A. E. Burke, of Alberton. He was educated at St. Dunstea’s College, and graduated in medi- cine from the Unversity of New York ia 1891. After graduating, Dr. Burke opened an cifice in Boston for the practice of his profession, and was very successful. For the past eight montte, however, his bealth has not been very good, and this summer he spent some time in his Island home expecting that the change would prove beneficial. He returaed to Boston about ten days ago, leaving Charlottetown by the Grand Duchess. Last week Father Burke re- ceived a telegram, advising him that his orother was dying, and he basteved to. Boston and was there when the end camef Dr. Burke was married toa daughter o the late Captain Kickham, who resided for many years in Charlottetown. An old and respected resident of Char- lottetown departed this life last evening in the person of Mr. George Waughan. Mr. Wanghan, it appears, was attacked vy paralysis about four years ago, but had apparently recovered from the effects. He seemed to be iv his usual health yesterday and in the evening went to Grace Church alone. While on his knees he became suddenly ill, and was assisted by some members of the congregation to ove of the houses near by. But betore reaching the house the vital spark fled. Hie death is attributed to paralysis. Mr. Waughan, came here from Suffolk, England. He is | survived by a widow and family, eee Mrs. Jobn Clay died at Summerside on Friday evening, of beart failure. She wasapparently in ber usual health up to poon on Thureday, and got dinner reedy for the family. She was taken suddenly ill about this time, but rallied and was thought to be out ofdanger. A few winutee before 9 o’clovk on Friday evening, nowever, abe became ill again. and soon passed away. A busband and three sons and four aaughters mourn the loss of a good wife aod foad mother. The funeral of the late Mr. Thomas Costello took place yesterday after noon,and was largely attended. The deceased was a prominent member of the Orange Order, and Boyne and St. George’s Lodges and the Young Britons preceeded the hearse. Rev. O B Emery was the cfliciating clergyman. The ritual of the Orange Order was read at the grave. The body of the daughter of Mr F.H. Beer was also committed to the earth vesterday afternoon, agreat number of citizens at tending the funeral.
