' FERRY MAKES EIGHT TRIPS- The car ferry was able to make eight round trips between Borden and Tormentine yesterday. Although there are still large fields of ice in the Straits, the steamer is able to proceed at her usual speed. A large number of cars have been ferrled in both directions during the last two days. There still remains about one hundred cars at Tormentine and about sixty at Borden awaiting trans- portation. The Lea Government will appeal to the people on its record of ad- ministration, Premier Lea. declared at the conclusion of his budget speech in the Legislature last. night. A deficit of $15,992.12 for the cur- rent year was estimated by the Premier. 'I'he estimated revenue he calculated at $l,016.717.88, and the estimat/ed expenditure at $1,032,710. The Premier spoke for about two and one half hours in introducing the motion on Supply. BURIAL-Older residents of Summerside and ‘Bed- eque will regret to learn of the death on Saturday last of Mrs. Annie Francis, of Bedeque, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. S. Allen of Halifax, N. S. Mrs. Francis was in her 81st year and was formerly Miss Annie Best of Bedeque. Before her husbands death Mrs. Francis had resided in Searletown. Since residing with her daughter in Halifax she had vistied from time to time h'cr native isle where she always re- ceived a cordial welcome from her many friends. The remains were brought home on Monday evening to the home of her nephew, Mr. J. B. Hayes, ci Searle- town. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from the resid- ence of Mr. Hayes to the Baptist Cemetery, Central Bedeque, where her remains were laid beside those of her late husband.-S.
