The match was it sensational one in that a total of 802 points was scored by our team out of a pos- sible 840. The former record oi' 786 made by Nova Scotia in 1908 was beaten by 16 points, or an av- erage oi two points per man for each. of the eight members of the team. Nova Scotia finished with an exact duplicate score of their record shoot in 1933-786, while New Brunswick trailed nve points behind, yet with an excellent score of 781. Claim is made that the score of 802 constltlites an eight man team record. not o‘nly for the Maritime Provinces but for Canada and the Empire as well. The records have been searched and nothing has been found in them to offset the statement. No wonder then that we all thrilled with pride at this achievement of our boys in win- ning the iiitcr-Maritime cup, which has been in competition for up- wards of fifty years. in looking over the scores I note that Lt: A. J. McCabe and Private G. A. Coles each scored 102 points; Q,M.S_ A, F. Gormley, Silt. R.. I... Coles and Sgt. G. G. McLennan each 101 points; while llic remaining members. Capt. J. C-iles. Lt. P. The 'list annual prize meeiinc of this A.=.~ociation was held on Alig- ust 3rd and 4th. with a slightly smaller attendance than the pre- vious vear, but the meet was one of the most successful we have over held. The drop in entries was due to the fact. that a num- ber of rural rifle associations ceas- ed functioning and the members collld not secure rifles to compete with. In order to induce younger shooters to compete we instituted a. “green shoot" match and this met with a fair measure of suc- cess and wc bclicvc \vill he-lp boost rifle .shooting in the future.
