First game of the season is in the Acadian Tip-off Tournament on November ll and l2 and in Acadia. As you recall, the Acadia Tournament was the start of a very successful sea- son last year for‘the Pant- hers, and Birger hopes the team will put in a good performance this year. He also stated that it may take a while-to build a good team and to try and hang on to their national ranking. With his new influence, system, and young squad the new coach should have few minorlproblems.We wish Mr. Birger and his Panthers'good luck. Treasurer John Neville reported on the set adver- .tising rates made by the Sun's editor Larry Green ' and CIMN station manager Maurice Rodgerson. ln‘a previous meeting council had been upset over the low advertising rates that the student union's news- paper had been using. Acc- ording to Advertising Mgr. John Flemming the union has been locked into several long term contracts for the newspaper, at the low rates. The new rates are now $96 for a full page ad. An advertiser who 'places h-8 ads will pay \80 dollars a page or #8 a page for a year round con- tract. Smaller ads such as one half, one quarter, or one eighth a page will be priced according to size. Communications Officer ‘Mike Mahon designated that the middle pages of the St- dent Directory be used for advert sing only at the to- tal cost set at $320. This concept was to offset the price of publishing. A special meeting of co- uncil has been called for Sun. Sept. 25 so that the .personel board's recommend- ations may be passed by the student council.
