There will not be so much danger of injuring the trees before the buds start by this preparation. A lye made by a pound of potash to two gallons of water makes a good wash. There are, however, two better preparations than these above mentioned. The first is a Solution of carbonate of soda, commonly called sol soda, and the second is a suds made of whale oil soap. e have used the soda, and like it better than the lye ofashes or potash. It is now used a good deal in what are called washing fluids, and the dealers can affo to let you have it cheaper than potash. Put a pound into two gallons of water, and apply it with a swab. We have never seen any damage done by it. It will lice the bark reen, and it kills the moss, which instantly changes colour on touching it, and in time scales off. Sometimes ap- ple trees, especially young trees, become plastered over with a. species of scales, looking like a minute muscle shell, which stick very closely to the bark. They are the covering to an e g ofa minute fly, that lays them there, and they are injurious to the growth ol the tree. Soft soap smeared over them will destroy them. Dr. Norris recommends two parts of soap, eight parts of water, and lime enough to make a white wash, which he would apply with a brush. This may be applied any time.-—E.tchange paper. It is for the cnrc of old Chronic Diseases that have been lingering in the system for years. HIGHLY IMPORTANT TO ALL AI-‘I-‘LICTED WITH CHRONIC DISEASES. For the present, then, let us ass to the considera- ion of the RESOLVENT, the second of the three R.R.R. Medicines. RADWAY‘S RENOVATING RES0l.VF.N'l‘ is for the cure of Chronic Diseases. of inflammation that is Kept alight on lire by some sustaining cause: for the Chemists tell us that inliammiation is a slow con- cealed combustion. And this cause is a deposit result- ing from the inflammation whilst it is in an active or acute condition, for all disease is at one time acute before it becomes chronic. If a person has Chronic Rheumatism, it is the result of a deposit in the fibrous issue surrounding joints; if a person is Scrofulour, use deposits olten show themselves in small lum under the chin and along the neck ; if he have a Con- sum tion or Chronic Cough. there is tuberculous mat- ter dbpooitcd in the lungs ; it‘ Bronchitis, it takes place the Bmnchial tubes : if Syphilis, it occurs in every tissue and organ in the who c system, lor that disease a res nothing. Now to cure these diseases, these hronic intlammations, (for it is this in every case.) it is manifest that the diseased deposits must be first removed, the rustuinin cause be taken away, and that the impure blood o altered in its condition and rendered pure and healthy. t omss necessary, then. that the sbsorbunts be active and the blood be purified. We therefore want a medicine that will act on the s nts and stimulate them into action, and at the some time purif the blood. Medicines that depend merely on puri yiug the blood alone will scarcely ever cure Chronic diseases : to ensure success tho must at first have the power to stimulate the shoe cuts, and re- move tho diseased deposits.
