The sale. held by the New York Auction Company, averaged prices 10 per ccut high- er than the December auction. Only the full silver section was auctioned yesterday. The top was $89 and entire section was sold. Four days will be required to sell the 25.000 skins which will go un- der the hammer. The rise in prices yesterday was said to reflect much stionger con- ildence in the market position of silver foxes and the buying was in sharp contrast to that at previous sales. At least one important auc- tion was cancelled because of the threat to domestic prices arising from aiieged dumping of Canadian silver and black foxes. Under the quota arrangement with Canada, that country may send In 58.300 silver and black foxes this year, less the December shipments. The quota for this month has already been exceeded.
