F., consisting of Dr. Millman, Supreme Physician; Mr. H. Collins, Supreme Treasurer; Mr. Harper, Mr. Dan Rose, Re v. Mr. Mc- Gillivary and Dr. \Vright, waited upon the Attorney-General and Dr. Howard Hunter, Inspector of Insu ra noe, Saturday and urged the enactment of reciprocal leg- islation admitting American fraternal societies to do business in Ontario. It was pointed out that in some of the States of the union there are provisions favorable to Canadian societies in force, while in others there were threats being made of retaliatory legislation if American organ- izations were n ot treated with greater consideration in Canada. The speakers for the deputation were Dr. Millman and Mr. Harper. The Hon. Mr. Gibson pointed out the great ditliculties in the way oi carrying out such a proposal and said that in any event the present session was too far advanced to permit of any legislation in the direction desired. ` i ' 'ras Mmsrm. snow.-The innsirci Show, under the auspices of the mem- bers of the Legue of the Cross, in the Lyceum next onday night will be one of the mei riest and most entertaining ever held in Charlottetown. The _songs are the latest and most popular airs in min- strelcy and the quick and ballad are nicely balanced. The rich voices of the boys ring out in the catchy choruses in excellent time and style and the circle is one bit of life from the rise to the fall of the- curtain. The jokes mostly original, take in nearly all the good subjects of the day for local hits, and thg end men and interlocutor lose no time in springing them. Step dancing, banio playing, and the rattling of the bones ani the shaking of the tam- ei p of an Alderman, The second part of the show is a darkey scene in the South, in which sand dancing, club swinging, si.nging,_ banjo pick- ing and baton manipulating are some of the principal features. The show is in aid of the League of_ the Cross of this city--a worthy obyect-. The deceased fell ill about four months ago but in spite of medical skill and careful nursing his life came to a close April 17th. _ All through his , sickness he was never heaigl to complain, but always told how good God was to him and advis- e l all his own family and those who visit- ed him to live in harmony with Christ. He was a member of the McDonaldite Church for many years, and showed how true a. mau can live when his dependence is in a higher power. Y., says that Dewitt C. Noble, of that city, who was granted a patent on a bicycle tire a few weeks ago, was subsequently offered $5,000 for a half interest in it, but this he declined. He says his figure is just twice that amount. bomin would nt irit into the heels _According to the Orange County (Cal.) Herald, Henry Bundy 85 Frank Young, were jointly granted a patent for a bil- liard tip which screws on to the stick, thus doing away with the troublesome glueing method. They have, says this Journal, been offered $2,000 *for a. third interest. It is gratifying to learn that the labors of Ottmar Mergenthalar, the inventor of the great type-setting machine, did not go unrewarded, as has been stated many times, It is stated that over $1,000,000 were turned over in cash to Mr. Mergenthaler after his machine had been fully perfected and was adopted for general use. Shortly before his death, he sold the remaining lot of stock held by him for more than $300,000. Nor do his prodts end here, for the royalties which he received and which will continue to his heirs, will amount to a great deal of money. (Communication of M. M.
