habitants. and is the capital. It has

wholesale trade. It has a Gas Light
and Power Company, two Electric
light plants, and a street railway is in
embryo. It has a llrst class water
works and sewerage system. It is
famed for its Wide and shaded streets.

attractive surroundings, pure water.
and clear, cool and bracing air. It is
widely known as one of the healthiest
cities in Canada. It has two
hospitals, many churches and a large

sources of the citizens’ pride. It has
one of the largest and best equipped
pork-packing establishments in the
Dominion. On its west side is Victoria
Park-a favorite summer resort-while
on the east. are the magnificent new
Exhibition Buildings and Driving Park.
Chief among its public squares is Queen
Square in the centre of the city, beauti-
fully laid out with blooming plants of
every description, fountains, and 4 well
arranged walks, and enlivened with a
band of music during the summer even-
ings._ The rural scenery in the vicinity

horses for driving are abundant. at very
low prices. Boats can also be hired,and
steamers run regularly on the bays and
rivers. affording most pleasant excur-
sions. The prinoipal hotels are Davies,
Queen, and Revere.
Summerside has about 4000 inhab-
itants. It is situated on beautiful Be-

stores. It has an E._ectrio Light Plant,

hotels and in Souris the Sea View.
