Winters S Maine, S Ontario, Nebraska, Wyoming, S British Columbia and sometimes in P.E.I. Nest: Bulky structure of plant stems, with mud cup and fine inner lining, low in evergreen (lst nest), or high in deciduous tree (2nd nest). Open areas with trees, forest edges, orchards, and gardens. Eggs: 3 to 5; blue-green. Usually has 2 broods per year. Diet: Mainly earthworms but also insects. Fruit and berries from late summer to winter. Song: Clear rising and falling phrases sounding like "cheer-up". Call note a vibrant "weep".
