POLICE COURT - Four drunk and incapables were on the City through the assistance of the Gov- ernment to buy machines that would overcome this problem and thus enable them to produce a higher quality of cheese. He announced that an eviscer- ating plant in connection with .Ienkin's cold storage plant in Summerslde would be in operation this coming fail. He felt that some competition in this field would be desirable if such could be arrang- ed. Mr. Cullen drew attention to the national potato conference which takes place in Guelph in August. He urged as many farmers as possible to attend the conference. Mr. Cullen will be the guest speak- er at one of the dinner meetings to be held there. URGES MEMBERSHIP. . Mr. Colin Waugh. provincial president of the Federation. was present and spoke briefly. He em- phasized the fact that farmers must have a voice to speak for them. He expressed disappoint- ment at the small number of membe . present and cautioned that the Federation could well go by the Board if it were not better supported. TAKE 1 AC. AC. FEDERATION The Federation passed a resolu- tion asking that the floor price on butter fag be revised upward im mcdiately. It was pointed out that the support price of 59 cents has been in existence for some years in spite of the fact that farm costs have been steadily rising. Mr. Dewar reported that butter surpluses in (lanada are being rapidly depleted and he predicted that butter prices would in all likelihood take a sharp rise before "The imposing of a floor price of 25 cents per lb. on turkeys and 23 cents per lb. on fowl by the Fed- eral Government will do a great deal to improve our markets" said Mr. J. Lincoln Dewar. Secret- ary of the Prince Edward Island Federation of Agriculture, speak- ing at the annual meeting of the Queens County Federation in Char- lottctown last night. Mr. Dewar said that by impos- in'.'. a floor price the Government is now able to lnforce the import regulations which will prevent the dumping of American turkeys and fowl on the Canadian market. He stated that last fall American birds were finding their way into Canada at the ridiculously low price of 16-17 cents per lb. Mr. Dewar had high praise for the prompt action of the Govern- ment in announcing the floor prices. He said the Canadian Fed- eration of Agriculture Board of Directors met with the acting min- ister of Agriculture and the Min- istcr of Finance on Tuesday. the cabinet met on Tuesday night and the release was made on Wed- uesday. Mr. Dewar said an opinion gen- orally hold by. many was that Ii-.c Canadian Federation of Agriculture is interested in only wheat and grain problems of Western Canada. "This should prove." he said "that the Federation is interested in all phases of agriculture whether it concerns the grain grower, the dairyman or in this case. the poultryman".
