Friends of The Guardian are again ash- ed to have all their advertising mutter whether of entertainments, lectures, con- certs,or of a general nature,in this Office not later than 4 p. m. and of any consid- erable length much earlier, as it is impos- sible to give all the news of the day if ad- vertising has to be handled at night, for every line of the lal;ter prevents the appearance of the some quantity of news. For the issue of the liltii one thirdof a col- umn of such advertising was set up in type at Inight, and readers were thus deprived of the same quantity of late news. This,of course, makes The Guardian less valuable to readers and correspond- ingly ao to advertisers, and in future only emergency advertising u ill be accepted at night. Friends are asked to hand in all their advertising as early as possible leach ay.
