We wish the Pioneer a suc- cossful career. the — -. -- Aas New Post Offices. A new post office has been granted tor south side De Gros Marsh, King’s County. Mr. Michael McPhee is Postmaster. This office was much needed, and will accommo- date the people of Boughton island as well as the people in its vicinity. Another new office has lately been opened at Burk’s Road, now known as New Acadia, which was much required. Messrs. McDonald and Muttart, through whose influence these and other oflices have been opened, are always alive to the inter- ests of their county and former constituents, and while Messrs. Mcintyre and Robertson occupy seats in the House of Commons, the old representatives have to do the actual work connected with the county. oe News Notes. The Kingston Cotton Mills has three car loads of cotion on the way to China, via the C. P. R. The story goes in Perth that the Govern- ment will order a premiminary survey of the country along the route of the Rideau Canal this summer, to learn what it will cost to enlarge it. A convention of the dairymen of Canada, with a view to organizing e Dominion Asso- ciation of Dairymen, will be held in Ottawa beginning on the 8th April. Mr. W. H. Lynch says that 3 number of delegates have been appointed by various local or- ganizations, and will be present at the gathering, while it is expected that leading representative men from widely distant parts will attend. Arrangements will be inade for railway excursion rates for those who are to attend the convention. New York has a new flag question to trouble it. When Mayor Grant, regardless of Mr. Hewitt’s declared principle that only United States flags should fly from the city hall, authored the hoisting of the green banner op St. Patrick’s Day, a few objected, but the majority had nothing to say. Now that certain Sons of 5t. George in the city have come forward with a de- mand that on the anniversary of England's patron saint England’s red banner should be exalted to the place lately occupied by St. Patrick’s, the authorities find them- selves in a quandary. They cannot refuse the request on grounds of consistency, and to acquiesce in it will be to anger all the yoters who were propitiated on the 17th. The majority seem to view the issue as one affording some instruction and much amuse- ment. o sil 2 cases fancy tweed suitings ~John Mc Lecd & Co, eens ; cases hats, in latest spring selling cheap.—Joha Me- Opened to-day, and trowserings. I believe that Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral saved my life.’ — Samuel Griggs, Waukegan, Lil. ‘Six years ago I contracted a severe cold, which settled on my lungs and soon developed all the alarming symp- toms of Consumption. I had a cough, night sweats, bleeding of the lungs, pains in chest and sides, and was so prostrated as to be confined to my bed most of the time. After trying various prescriptions, without benefit, my physician finally determined to give me Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral. I took it, and the effect was magical.
