A very impressive Remembrance Day service was held at Montaslw yesterday when veterans. armed service units. community organi- zations. and citizens joined in pay- his tribute to the honored dead and courageous living who offered their lives in two world conflicts to pre- serve their way of life. The parade. under the direction at Parade Marshall Rod Martin. formed at the Legion Home. Fol- lowing the Marshall were the stan- dard bearers. pipers. R. C. M. P.. veterans. Charlottetown Boy Scout bugle band. Reserve Army. Boy Scouts. Cubs. and Girl Guides The colorful parade moved off and continued on Main Street to the Memorial School where a wreath was laid, after which the parade continued to the Kings County Memorial Hospital where the ceremony was held. The Last Post. was sounded by Bugler George Boudreault. then two min- utes silence. after which Reveille Mrs. Leroy White Montague, was re-elected president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kings County Hospital at the annual meeting at the home of Senator Elsie lnman Friday evening. There was a large attendance of mem- bers and friends and the meeting was conducted by Mrs. White. The report'of the nominating committee was presented by Mrs. Lorne Wigginton and was adopt- ed as follows: vice presdent. Mrs. Frank Dewar (reelected): sec.- treasurer, Mrs. J. D. MacLeod. tre-elected); directors, Mrs. L H. Poole. Mrs. Callum Bruce. Mrs. Lorne Wigginton: auditors. Mrs. Robert Machon. Mrs A. M Wright. The minutes of the last annual meeting and the last regular meet- ing were read and approved. The ii " statement for the year was presented by Mrs. MacLeod. showing a substantial balance on hand at the close of the year. In her address. Mra. White out- lined the various ways and menas of raising funds for the many worthy projects undertaken by the auxiliary in aid of the hospital. He said that they had left home to pre- serve the principles of democracy. their love of right. liberty and justice. Recognizinr; their great sacrifice. he said. we must not let ourselves be lulled into complac- ency. for there are forces at work ready to underminc and dcstroy the principles of our way of Ill('. the pinciples of our way of bio. not become listless if it would sur- vive. and we must re-dedicate our- selves to the cause of cbcrlshn ocracy. The ceremony closcd with tho Qtieen. after which the paradc moved off to the Legion Home Where dinner was served to the veterans and their families by the Ladles Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion. campaign. a second sewing mach- ine has been purchased. the deluxe room had been redecorated. new. bathrobes had been provided for younger patients. a clock was pur- chased for the operating room. and new dishes were also purchased. The auxiliary also paid for lint- ing hospital supplies mended dur- ing the summer months. At Christmas treats and turkeys were provided for patients and staff. The president also stated that a new sterlizer or flushcr had been ordered for the hospital at an approximate cost to the auxili- ary of four hundred dollars. A re cent project is the publishing of 300 cook books and Mrs. While expressed the hope that the books would be ready for sale before Christmas. The book will feature 100 favorite recipes of Montnsuc ladies. At the close of her address. a number of members expressed ap- preciation for the splendid leader- ship Mrs. White had given the auxiliary during the past year and wished her every success in the ensuing term.
