S., who has been in Summerside mak- ing n. survey to increase the local water supply, sent in his report to the Water and Sewerage Commis- sioners cn Tuesday. Oi several sites surveyed by him, he advised that the spring ut Greens Brook would be the most suitable for additional water supply. It has been found necessary to increase the wuiter supply as although there is sui- iicicnt for ordinary use, in the case oi a big tire the supply would be inadequate, and the fire under- writers had threatened to raise the rate ii the supply was not in- creased. The supply is as good as it has ever been but the consump- tion has bcen increasing at a rate o! 5 per cent for some years. Mr. Doane also advised that the stand pipr- be securely anchored. as at present it sways when there is a. heavy wTnd, which is vrnry unsafe.
