By means of this improvement no can-opener ia required to get at contents. Kach can has a key, by means of which a child can open the can, leaving no ragged edges endangering the cutting of fingers. etc., and enabling the contents to be turned intact. Mr. Grant atates thac the additional cest is inti i tisimal. We certainly think that the goods «f packers adopting this improvement wil take pre- cedence over the goois put up by packers using the old-fashioned can. Mr. Grant has the coutrolling interest of the patent for these provinces, Tne Examiner wishes him success. - Some Goop Work.—Yesterday a novel sight was presented to the passers-by oa Fi zroy Street, east, opposite the residence of Mr. Edward Skerry. Sitting upright upon their keels were four nicely built and neatly painted boats. Our reperter was immediately attracted by the novel turn- out, and called upon Mr, Skerry, whem he found in the second story of his shop, work- ing away upon a fifth boat, which was al- most completed. Mr. Skerry is one of our most en erprising mechanics, and although | engaged in fishing during the summer sea- son he never sits idle in winter. He spent last. winter be yond the Rockies rather than spend it idly here, and at present he has @ contract feom the Portland Packing Com- pany for the construction of ten boats. These beats are 17 feet keel, of the lap- Atrexnk aud +e :tre-bo urd build, and are for the lobster fisting business of the above C mpany, whch is represented here hy Mr. Tidmarsh, of Nova Seotia They are substantially built, and reflect much credit upon Mr. Skerry as a workman, aod we trust he will make a geod profit out of his undertaking.
