Burke of West Royalty. Mrs. Burke suffered ii heart attack at her home after a very brief ill- ness. The late Mrs. Burke. who was formerly Annie Catherine Campbell of Darllngton. P. E. 1.. was married to the late Vernon L. Burke on August 14, 1318. Mr. Burke prede- ceased her only one year ago on November 10th. Alter her marriage she and her husband came to West Royalty where they have since re- sided. The late Mrs. Burke was active in church and community work. be- lng a I lthful member of Trinity United hurch and an active work- er in the Co-operative Workers Group of the Mary Miller Auxiliary of the church. she was also a charter member and active worker of the wast Royalty Women's In- stitute and the wast Royalty Home and School Association. she will be greatly ml.ssed for her kind. friendly and sympathetic nature and her willingness to assist neighbours and lend her hand in any worth- while cause. But the potato shipment in- crease of so cars was somewhat offset by a deci-ea.se'in the num- ber of turnips which showed that 69 cars were shipped this year while 107 cars left the Island in the same period of'1953. This in- formation is contained in the monthly traffic statement of the Canadian National Railway: is- sued by the office of the Supcrin. tendent. Charlottetown. - Imports to the Island via Tor- mentine and Borden also showed a considerable upswing with a total of 1,322 cars being ferried to the province in comparison to 1.155 for the same period the pre- vious year. Two items were large- ly. responsible for this increase namely, coal, of which there were 248 cars imported to the 177 ship- ped here in 1953, and sand stone and gravel showing a jump from 35 cars to 127 cars. The following are some of the more important imports with last year's figures in brackets: Autos 17 (40), flour and feed 103 (74), gas and oils 212 (200), lumber S5 (17). livestock ma). meats 30 (lo), machinery 7 (4), canned goods 19 (16). brick and cement 19 (26). The more important exports were fish. 14 (10). livestock 105 (BB), meats 28 (18). oats 13 (12), (1), conned goods Ti (5), hay and straw 1 (2), moss 6 (9). blueberries nil (5). vegetables nil (3). of the cars forwarded from Cape Tormentlne to Borden, 1,094 were destined to points between Charlottetown. Borden and Surn- merside; 126 to points East and south of Charlottetown and 102 to points West of Summcrside. Of those forwarded from Bor- den to Ca.pe Tormentine, 765 orig- tinated at points between Gnar- lottotown.
