The idea of a Provinciallndustrisl Exhibition for Nova Scotiu, was suggested so or ck as 1851 or 1852, and steps were taken b the Halifax Mechanics‘ Institute, with a num r of other public spirited individuals, in order to enlist the sympathies of the people generally in securing a creditable displa of the natural and industrial resources oftie evince. The several Committees ithrou liout the interior of Nova Scotia are , active y engaged in raising subscriptions, and ' . the growth and reparation of articles svineing native industrysnd skill. The die very general interest in the undertaking. when it is considered that the water communi cation tween Nova Scotia and the Island renders the conveyance of articles much less dillicult and expensive than from many rts of the interior of Nova Scotia, the objection will be seen to possess little or no weight. There is. however, a stron reason why Prince Ed- ward Island shoulg be represented at this Exhibition. Nothing tends so much to elevate the character of a country in the estimation ! of its rival competitors, as the display in one ‘ unite and concentrated whole of its various natural and industrial productions.
