evening the Plant line steamer A. \V,
Perry will he a ltotal loss. and it is
thought that she,may go to pieces ai'-
ter the first big storm on the const oil'
Chebucto Head. Arrangenieiits are be-
ing niade to have divers salvage the
cargo on board the steamer and the
work will be commenced as soon as
possible. it is thought that the great-
cr part oi’ the freight will be brought
to the surface before the Perry breaks
up. The investigation into the. acci-
dent will lik_ely,,pe commenced early
next week. ._., '
it is iinderstood that there was no
insurance either on the steanici'-or the
cargo. The steamer’s insurance is
said to have elapsed shortly before
her last sailing and as she was short-
