Sir,-I see by public. meetings held
in the Murray Harbour district that
Mr. Wilson and Mr. Movie aré trying
_to hound down Mr. McKinnon for Inst
I. little personal dispute: that is that
he stated that Mr, Wilson asked that
Mr. Mcvie be made prosecutor. I=
happened to be in the Alliance room
at the time and what Mr. McKinnon
did fiay was that Mr. Wilson asked for
the position on two occasions. Mr.
Wilson denied that he asked on
two occasions, and said he only asked
on one occasion. I did not hear Mr.
McKinnon say that Mr. McVie per-
sonally asked, so it would appear that
the biggest mlsunderstandliw il D6-
tween the two Revd. gentlemen. They
don’f. seem to have any charges-
against Mr. McKinnon on anything
but personal grounds and as far as
the public is concerned they think it
would be more fitting for them to bel
in their pulpits than chasing around
at political meetings.

Sir,- In opening both Guardian
and Patriot thismorning and reading
a speech made by Mr. Bentley, it puts
me in mind of two of us_dropping ln-
to a hall where there was a political
tempearnce meeting going _on. I heard
the abuse between clergy and politi-
cians, and although I was not there
ln the day time they `tell me it was
worse. I heard Mr._ __Bei;t_ley__g_iye,a_
speech, I think he wanted a clause in
some act; he was a strong Conserva-
`tive, so was his father before him,
but ll he did not get this clause in
The Prohibition Act would not be any
credit to our statutes. He said he
would not say what he would do a-
bout lt, but he would condemn the
Government. Then came Mr. Bell and
his speech was a round table covered
with the nicest flowers on it. When
we went out I said "I will bet you
that Mr. Bell made that speech to
open the door, and Mr. Bentley made
his to grease the hinges so that they
would not hear him slip ln. .Now it
shows Mr. Bentley did slip into the
Liberal fold and the hinges never
creaked till he was ln, but his heart
and his work were there as I said on
the night Mr. Bell opened the door.

There was a large turn out of pup-
ils yesterday mqrniiig at Prince
Street School when school was re-
opened after the summer vacation. An
interesting programme was gone
through,-and there was an unmistak-
able air of brightness and enthusiasm
about the whole proceedings, which
were very pleasantly blended with
patriotic songs and choruses rendered
in fine style by the older girls, accom-
panled by Prof. Thompson at the
piano. Tile public were invited to
view the class rooms, grounds, etc.
During the vacation the school has
been thoroughly cleaned and repainted
- in harmonious tints. In previous
years the walls had been kalsomined,
but the superior finish and wearing
qualities of oil paint, com-
pletely justlfles this new policy ot
the board. Mr. Henry Smith, chair-
man of the School Board presided. Pre-
sent on the platform were Principal
Seaman, Mr. James Paton, Rev. Mr.
Taylor, Zion Church; Rev. Mr. Fulton,
First Methodist Church; Mr. Cross,
Sec’ty Y. M. C. A. and Mr. T. C.
James.
The Chairman said it gave him very
much pleasure to see so many scholars
on the opening day. During the re-
cess the trustees had endeavored to
make the interior as clean and nice
as they possibly could for their re-
turn. About $400 had been expended
in painting, between $200 and $300 on
new floors, and a considerable sum
had also been spent on the outside as
well. The school was now in pretty
good condition. -They were glad to
welcome so many of the parents on
the opening day. Before the pupils
Sot down to the “hard pan" of work
again they wanted to have some ad-
dresses aiid some singing.
Rev. Mr. Taylor. of Zion Church, fol-
lowed with a few appropriate remarks.
This was one of the chief events of
the year. He thought the scholars
generally felt that the school closing
was something to take precedence
over the opening. This was a great
day in the life of the children, espec-
lally to those who were starting out
on something they had never experien-
ced before. They were going to get
into a great many new lines of know-
ledge they had never dreamed of be-
fore. When they were through with
this the world would have altogether
changed for them, because they would
have learned so much more about
Xhat the world was and their part in
Mr. Taylor stated that on behalf of
Zion Church he would offer to any
scholar in the school who was identi-
fied with Zion Church, a. handsome
medal for competition.
Mr. James Paton, who spoke next,
said that it gave him a great deal of
pleasure to be there that morning and
to see such a beautiful school as they
had now. The School Board was cer-
tainly to he congratulated in making
the rooms so comfortable. On such
a beautiful morning it was a treat to
look on the pretty girls with thielr
faces so bright and sunny. lt almost
made him wish he was a boy in Prince
Street School himself (laughter.)
After referring to a medal formerly
given by him and which he had seen
during a recent visit to Western Can-
ada, now wom by a married lady, he
said that he had a proposal to'make

The Rev. Mr. Fulton then spbke. He
had noticed, he said, that,Mr. Taylor
invariably said boys and Kirll. That
reminded him of the man who _used to
speak frequently in another gestion of
the country and who always egan his
address with “lentlemen and ladies."
He was remonatrated with and told
that that was not the way to begin
his speech. But he said that was
always the way because .the ladies
were always after the gentle-
men. The girls were going
to lead the boys a merry dance
in the way of education in the comlhg
year. He hoped the boys 'would
reach al high 'a standard as these
'with his litf.le girl. ,lt made him feel
` out to the war as soldiers, but he was
girls had. But he knew that the man
who spoke the shortest was the man
they loved the beat. They were bo-

ulating the pupils and the teachers
on the bright new school and wishing
them success in their year's work.
T. C. James then spoke. ' He said
that for s number of years he had been
giving a medal in West Kent School.
