Notwithstarid-l ing that well fitted fat cattle will bring about 7c. per Ib live weight' in the market, the number otiering for sale is falling oil. To stimulate the production of beef cattle a corn-; mittee was appointed last .rortng to draft a constitution for- a Beef Breed_-l ers’ Association and to make prepar- ations to complete the organization. ‘Accordingly a meeting will be held in the Agricultural Hall on Friday, October 10th, beginning at 2.00 p.‘ m. to which all interested arc ln- vited to attend. » _.___ SURELY THE BEST.-It is now quite certain that the greatest num- ber of people that ever came to Char- lottetown to attend an Exhibition were in attendance this year. Be- sides about 9000 persons who came in by the P. E. I. R. and two hun- dred by the S. S. Lady Sybil from Picton, the Charlottetown Steam Navigation Company’s steamers car- ried the greatest number in their his- tory. Seven hundred and three pas- sengers came to Charlottetown from Picton, by the S. S, Northumberland during the four days of Exhibition. The -Empress had a passenger list for the four days of the big show, of three hundred and eight. This is the largest number that these eteam- era ever carried in such n space of time, and exceeds the number of lust year by three hundred. NEARLY SERIOUS.-A tire which might easily have proved more aeri- ous than it- did occurred a few days ago in the Cox Hotel, Souris. One of the maids had started a hrc in n three--lamp oil-stove about 4 o'cloelr in the morning to prepare breakfast for some guests who were leaving by y . porarily absent from the kitchen th oil tank exploded scattering the blaz ing oil over the Hoor, furniture an( spread quickly, the household was ilghting in which robes de nuit 'con- stituted the t1remen’s uniforms, the blaze was extinguished but not be- were damaged to the extent of some five or six hundred dollars worth. The m-.aid who was in attendance in the kitchen at the time had her hands burned somewhat painfully unriher hair and eyebrows singed._ WEDDING AT HOPEVILLE.- The home of Mrs C. B. Leslie, Hopeville, N. S., was the scene of a very happy event, when her daughter, Annie M‘ay was united in marriage to James Wylie, of Sydney. To the strains of "Lohengrin” the bride, who was at- tractively gowned in white silk crepe de chene with trimmings of Maltese lace and Rhinestones, and carried an empire boquet of white roses and maiden hair ferns, descending the stairway on the arm, of her twin brother Everett N. Leslie, preceded by her bridesmaid, Miss Lena Scott, neicc of the bride, and alsd little Miss Gladys and Master Leslie Scott. who unfolded white satin ribbons as they marched, thus forming a path- way for the bride to the alter. The beautiful ring service oi the Presby- terian church was very~impressively used by Rev. Geo. Logan, the offi- ciating clergyman. Amid showers of confetti, good wishes, and roses, the bridal pair left; on the evening ex-i press for a short trip to Charlotte- tow-n, P. E. I. On their return they will reside in New Glasgow, where Mr. Wylie has accepted a position with the Eastern Car company. Go- ing away the bride wore a navy blue tailored suit with white brocode blouse and hat to match. ::'1‘he Pickling Season is at hand and you will ilnd at our store all the ingredients for making good l>iCkl¢B. _.mixed pickling spice, essence of vin- egar, turmeric, black and white and pepper-curry powder, eloves,a1l- etc. All fresh stock. In several parts of Kings county the potato crop was badly blighted but on t.'=e whole the yield forthe county will be larger than usual and, where frost did not strike" the quality will be up to ,the usual standard. AUTUMN GLORY-The woods are now dawning their autumn robes and they are, if DOSBible, more gorgeoug than ever. In wooden sections there' is scenery which rivals that of the most beautiful flower garden, the rich crimson tints of the mnples with all the shades of coloring to the dark rich green of the spruces making a' picture of exquisite grandeur. One misses much who fails to seo 'the wooded hillsides in the country at this season of the year. It is Prince Edward Islaud's garden time. ::You will find in Rexall Blood Tablets a preparation of wonderful efficiency in purifying and strength- cning your blood, building up your nervous system and putting your blood in a good healthy condition.
