Sift it once more with the soda, salt and spices. Add the chopped dates to this part. and mix well so that each piece is well coated. Stir the molasses lnto the milk and then add the finely shredded suet to this. Turn lnto the dry in- gredients and mix well. Fill a well- greased mould about 2-3 full and cover with waxed paper. Adjust the lid which should be a tight-fitting one, or cover with a folded cloth. Tie down securely. l Steam for 3 hours, addlng more boiling water as that in the steam- el‘ cooks away. If you haven't a regular steamer, set the moulds in a. large kettle or an inverted pie pan and have the water come at least half way up the mould. Bye sure that it is boiling when you put the pudding in, and that it never stop: while the pudding is coo g. Serve with hard sauce, or any kind you like best. And if you don't use all of the udding at one time, you can store t in a. cool, dry place, and re-steam it when you are ready to use it.
