Why the Guardian should go out of ita way to make this statement is difficult to under- stand whenit is remembered that cold water 13 the standard beverage of Good Templara, 5 By the way, the editors of the Guardian aod Patriot were down for speeches at this Same anniversary banquet, but neither put in av appearance, It is said that as between the temperance dinner and the Charlottetown club “At Home” the editor of the Guardian chose the Charlottetown Club, an institution regarding which his paper bas bad a good deal to say in con- nection with the liquor question. There should have been no difficulty on the part of the Guardian in determining which of the two events was most desery- ing of its patronage, an institution like Charlovtetown Lodge which is deing a great good along the lines of temperance or the Charlottetowo Club with which the Guardian pretends to have no sympathy. ConsisTeNcr. P. 8.—Perhaps the Guardiaa will take the public into its confidence and let us know what description of beverage was used at the club celebration. C.
