It is easily seen that if it - this 100k “kc provincial ham“ were not for that. every holder of | rupwy? real estate and personal‘ property would have to pay at least one- Public Hum, I have referred to the large ex- penditure on Public Health in this Province. The MacMlllan Govern- ment spent a little over $300,000 is year on Public Health; this year the Jones Government Budget calls for the enormous sum of $i,100,000 on Public Health and WeZCare-nearly four times grant to hospitals which is paid on the basis of 50 cents per day per bed 1n each and every hospital. The grants formerly paid to hos- pitals hy the MacMilian Govern- ment have thus been increased threefold. Such an excellent financial arrangement as has been com- pleted with Ottawa was more readily secured because the two Governments were in line. The hie of the present Liberal admin- istration at Ottawa extends to i950. so that for the next three years at least, we may expect a Liberal Government in power in Canada. And with the assistance we have from Ottawa we may easily expect the Liberals to be in power there indefinitely. For instance, in this Province alone we receive over $2,000,000 annually from Childrens' Allow- ances, and nearly a million more from the Old Age and Blind Pen- sions. This makes a grand total oi nearly $6,000,000 a year that comes to this Province from Ottawa. Is here any likelihood that the Ottawa Government yvill change? And if we have a Liberal Government in Ottawa we should have s Liberal Government in Prince Edward Island-as with the two Governments in line we can expect a further expansion of the already munificent services pro- vided for us along the line. The press published Wednesday morning the manifesto of the Lib- eral Party which was announced on Tuesday night by Premier Jones. I would strongly urge every elector of Prince Edward Island to read the list of accomplishments- of the Jones Government aver carefully. also the good things to come under the new Jones Gov- ernment of which I hope to bo- come a member again after De- cember lith.
