The follow got his drink, but refused to pay for it. and so did his endorser, as he had \promised that he would. At a school at Newcastle, the master asked a class of boys the meaning of the .word “appetite.” After a short pause, zone little boy said, " I know, sir; when d'm eaten I'm happy' and when I'm done I'm tight." “ Pray, Mrs. Radiski, why do you \vl.ip your children so oftei ?" “ Ls, Mr. Worthy, I do it for their enlighten- ment. I never whipped one of them in my life-time that he didn’t aclinowledgc that it made him smart.’ “ Good morning, Mr. Henfieck," said a printer in search of female compositors : “ have you got any daughters that would make good type-setters!" “No, butI have got a wife that would make a very tine devil."
