Co was the surprise and sorrow throughout the British Dominions when the cables flashed far and wide on the night of May 6th, the doleful message that Edward, England’s King had suddenly passed away. King Edward VII. had by his kingly bearing, his devotion to duty, his love for his people and his fruitful efforts for the betterment of diplomatic relations among nations, fully merited the affection of his subjects and the admiration of all peoples. With his passing there is removed from the great stage of world politics one of the ablest Kings that ever exercised a soothing influence upon the troubled affairs of nations. King Edward was truly the foremost ruler of his day and his reign though one of the shortest is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in history. He filled in the fullest measure our ideal of the peoples’ king and the achievements of his well ordered life, during the nine years of his reign, are worthy of emulation by his son. King Edward the Peacemaker is dead and all nations sorrow. Long live King George V. &
