Constitution. the officers, executives and the powers and duties of executive officers. - , , L ‘ The following are the way these articles are presently written in our constitution: ‘ ARI'ICIE v1 - U.P.E.I.S.U. COUNCIL V ‘l. The governing body of the U.P.E.I.S.U. shall be r the U.P.E.I.S.U., Council which shall consist of: a) the officers of the UPEISU b) four (4) Class Presidents, elected to Cbmcil each September a c) four (4) Senate Barbers, elected in Septetber (2) and in February (2). . d) one (1) Board of Governors, elected to Council .in September. ‘ e) nine (9) elected representatives for students in the faculties according to the‘proportion of students each faculty has in use total enroll- ment, as shown by enrollment figures one month before the student election in February, to be / .~ specified by the Electoral Committee. - ARTICLE V111 — OFFICERS AND EXECIJTIVES ‘ _ 1. 'Ihe officers of the UPEISU shall be: v a) President ' b) Vice-President c) Treasurer d) Canptroller v e) Caumnicatials Officer , H 2. 'IHE PIESIIENT SHALL: a) be chief executive of the union. b) be official spokesman of the union. c) call all meetings of the union (octmcil,general,. executive, annual, emergency, etc.) ‘ d) be responsible for tie direction and integration of all activities. I 4 e)be a member of the University Senate. 4 f) preside over all meetings of the Ganeral Assembly and Executive or ask the Speaker‘to do so in his absence. “ g) be bound to call a council meeting within /48 hrs. of receiving a petition signed by 5% of the student body 2/3 majority in Council re- ~ questing such a meeting. ‘ h) prepare agenda in consultation with the Executive, ' prior to all meetings and publish the agenda 24 hours prior to regular meeting . ' i) call Executive neetings prior to regular Council meetings. ’ ~ j) issue a "state of the Union address" within 30 days prior to tennination of office. ‘ g k) carry out resolutions of Cotmcil when applicable. 1) issue a statement of direction within 14 days of ' election ' v ' m) appoint advisory catmittees to study topics which council considers pertinent. n) perform other duties as required. 2. THE VICE—PRESIIINI' SHALL: _ ' - a) be respmsible for the coy—ordination of the activities of the unim's sub-organizations, and be responsible for them to Owncil, with - the exception of those included under ConmmiCations Officer . b) be a menber of the Senate and assume the duties of .' the President in his absence. c) be responsible for cammity, provincial, national and international organizations, and be responsible for the appropriate cotmittees. d) perform other duties as required. 3. THE TREASURER SHALL; * a) be a member of the Board of Governors They deal with the U.P.E.I.S.U.
