Mr. MacRae was born at Water- side, Pownal, August 27, 1872, and was in his 75th year. His boyhood was spent at home and he enlist- ed with others and served as a machine gunncr in the Boer War in South Africa. He was a splendid rifle shot and excelled in the adjustment and use of fire arms. In the First World War he served with distinc- tion as gunnery instructor both in Canada and Great Britain and was promoted to the rank of M1101‘. He was twice married. first to Margaret Irving. daughter of the late Mr. D. P, Irving, MLA, and some years after her death to Grace Dulcher, daughter of Rev. lVIr. Dulchcr- a former Methodist Minister who at one time had a pastorate at Vernon River. Major MacRae after his second marriage went to Honolulu where he lived for some years and later moved to Suva. He had a very retentive memory and aboundcd in folk lore being a very interesting conversatlonaliist. His passing will be regretted by his many friends and relatives on P. E, I.
