Dr, Browa, of Milwaukee, Splits it, and Takes Two Pietures., Dr. Horace Manchester Brown, Milwau- kee, Wis., has made what is believed to be an important diecovery in the use of the X ray, by which he took two photographs situated, practically, at right angles from the direction ofthe ray. This was accom- plished by the nse of a magnet, with a lifting power of one and a half pounds. With this he divided the ray, making a photograph of one object with the direct ray, and another ata right angles to it This method r quires twice the length o time for exposure, as the strength of the ray ig weakened in dividing it, Dr. Brown photographed a bullet in the leg of Sevier Klein, which had been imbedded against the bone since February 23, by an exposure of one hour’ He cut into the leg, and found the bullet at the point shown in the photograph. His next exper- iment will be to try to kill pus germs with th: P ray, which is believed to be a germicide. ~~ e+ ae ee English and American felt hats, the lat- est.—John McLeod & Co.
