x -t A-cw -. - M r 3. - om HOME WEEK, AUGUST I2 to l7 - LIVESTOCK SHOW OPENING NIGHT Old Home Week and Provincial Exhibition will be officially opened Tuesday. ADMISSION TO GROUNDS The Vaudeville programme will again be staged in the Jones Livestock Pavilion (Coliseum). The admission of 50 cents will give patrons access to the main grounds including the Vaudeville Show. the cattle. horses, swine. sheep and poultry exhibits. the Women's Institute Display and the Bill Lynch Midway. There will also be numerous industrial. mercantile and agricultural display booths. The main building will be open to patrons at all times. , It is hoped in this way to streamline the racing program and at that same time assure a full vaudeville program, regardless of the weather, both afternoon and evening. Racing will follow. The Jones Livestock Pavilion is a popular meeting place for visitors to the Exhibition. Seating has been installed and an audience of about four thousand can be comfortably handled. Q The building which is of all steel construction 22.3 by I50 feet and thus lends itself admirably to a show ring and for judging purposes. ADMISSION TO RACE TRACK The admission to the race track will be 51.00 per performance for adults and 50 cents for children. it is proposed to have six night racing cards and at least three afternoon cards. HARNESS HORSE RACING For thrills. competition. cntcrtainmcnt and'crowds there are few athletic events in the Dominion to equal the Old Home Week harness rac- ing program islanders and racing fans from across the continent Join to- gether during the week to make Charlottetown the mecca of the harness racing sport. This year's program bids well to be the largest and most competitive over staged here. The leading horses in the Maritimes and many from oIIt- slde these seaside provinces will be racing over a lightning fast track which has produced some of the fastest miles in the Marit mes this year. A very large number of mainland entries have been received and overythlng indicates that the mainland entries will exceed those of past years. Tho horse and swine ontries are also well above the number of past years. There will be plenty of fun and not a little excitement in the Jones Livestock Pavilion where the judging is scheduled to take place. Horses will be judged in the first two days, Monday and Tuesday, followed by the cattle on Wednesday and until completed. It is expected large crowds will flock to the judging rings and show circle where the cream of Island Live- stock goes on parade. Once again we take pride In the fact that our oneouragement coup- led with that of the Dominion and Provincial Governments. has brought our standard of quality so high that we are known throughout the length and breadth of the American continent as among the best producers of special types of horses, cattle, sheep, Iwino and poultry.
