speaking from St. Matthew 9: 36. He
said Jesus took a supreme interest
in man, ever striving to assist him
iii all ways, physically as well as
spiritually. He illustrated this in
his interest in Nicodemus, the wo-
man of Samaria and the Rich Niouiig
Ruler, and said Jesus’ whole hfe was
marked by an endeavor to assist
man and humanity, and though
oft weary His spirit never flagged in
His purposef He contrasted hi'an's
interest in things with Jesus' inter-
est '_in man. With man his interest
was excited by the good which
things (such as money) could do for
him tending towards His own happi-
ness or worldly success, while with
Christ Hewas interested in what
He could do for others at any :ost
to Himself. The speaker described the
selilshness of man. Man is carried
away by his admiration of earthly
things and places, this supreme over
everything, neglecting things eternal.
A wrong idea prevails as to "suc-
ofs." Earthly success is in the
a undance of "things" a man pos-
sesses and is thus nieasiired. It is
not possessions but character from
which success results. In the pro-
per use of money, position and talent
toward the advancement of Christ's
Kingdom one is learning the lesson
Jesus would have him learn. He
closed in an earnest appeal to all to
go live in the coming years that by
the lives of each one many .others
would be benedted and blessed.

tude, 11,474 feet, today flew over
the mountain range that rims the
valley in which Lol Angeles,-Paar
dena and the towns of the orange
belt lie. Under ideal weather condi-
tions he soared 10,005 feet into the
sky and cleared the crest of Mount
Wilson with 4,200 feet to spare.
Lieutenant Vernon Boller nnd'several

see the flights, asserted Hoxseys per-
formance and pointed a new way to
transporting armies across mountain
ranges. Hoxsey used a Wright bi-
plane equipped for passenger service,
and made the journey from the held
