cording to an official report issued by
the Indio; office, who had collected a
force of 11,000 regulars with 28 guns
and some 12,000 Kuds and Arabs, at-

Leroy Kielly, which told her that he

quarantine and his future letters will
be eagerly looked for.
ORCHARD SPRAYING-'l‘liis is thc
time of year when fruit growers should
be taking care of their orchards. Tra-
velling is now so had that not very
much can be ‘done on the farm and
the fruit-grower, who in this province
is fariiier its wcll, can get his orchard
pruned, grafted and sprayed. The
various departments of agriculture
have issued a large number of bulle-
tinii on these subjects which can bo
had for the asking. The dormant
spray, which destroys scale, scab and
the eggs of lice and other pests, can
be applied now any fine day. lt is
made of 15 pounds of sulphur and 18
pounds of- lime to 40 gallons ol’ water.
Nothing but quick lime should be usodw
The proper amount should bc put into
the boiler and water put on it so its
to slack It properly. While it is still
slacking the powdered sulphur should
be put on it so as to create a great
heat. lt should then be boiled hard
for at least an hour, after which it is
ready for use. 15 pounds of sulphur
and 18 pounds ol"lime`are suflicient
to compound 40 gallons of spray. it
ls best applied warm. Commercial
lime sulphur can also be used. but it
costs a little more. Full information
ln regard to this matter' may be had
