CI-lARLO'r'l'E'f'OWN A Maclluarria-Beck Wedding At four o'clock, yesterday after- noon a very beautiful wedding was solemnized at the Montague Church of Christ between Ethel Mae, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Beck of Alliston, and Don- ald Gordon, son of Mrs. Charles MacQuarrle and the late Mr. Mac- Quarrie of Roaeneatli. Mr. M.D. Dunbar officiated at the double ring ceremony. Imme- diately preceding the service a glrls' choir song "0 Perfect Love", and the magnificent floral decora- tions formed a picturesque setting for the bridal party as they pro- ceeded down the aisle to the strains of Lohengrin wedding march played by the organist, Mrs. M.N. Beck. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a gown of white nylon taffeta with lace in- sert and scalloped neckline ,flttecl bodice and full skirt with train. Her finger-tip veil fell from a headdress of lilies of the valley and she carried a cascade bouquet of Pink Delight roses. Miss Jean Beck was her sister's maid of honour, and was gowned in cornflower yellow taffeta with matching bandsau. As bridesmaid Miss Vida. Stewart of Charlotte- town wore a gown of Queen Eliza- beth blue and matching bandeau. Both attendants carried nosegays of carnations and rosebuds. The groomsman was Mr. Mal- colm MacQuarrie, brother of the groom, and Messrs Ernest Robert- son and Gordon MacRae ushered the guests. During the cereinony, Mr. Pres- ton Beck sang "Because". The mother of the bride wore a wedgewood Blue gown and white sailor hat, while the groom's mo- tlicr chose a midnight blue en- semble with pale blue accessories. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, and a very happy social hbur was spent. During the serv- ing of refreshments 9. toast to the bride was proposed by Mr. Dun- bar and responded to by the groom This wedding was unique in that it was the first ever held in the Montague Church of Christ. since its erection in 1876. To commemor- ate the occasion a white Bible was presented to the bride by Elder R. W. Beck on behalf of the congre- gation. Following the reception the hap- py couple left by car for an ex- tended trip to Toronto, Boston. and other points. For travelling the bride chose a summer suit of pale blue with navy and white ao- ccssories. She wore a corsage of white Carnations. The bride, a graduate nurse of the Custodian of Enemy Property. On behalf of the Farm em- ployees he asked Mr. and Mrs. Drlscoll to each accept the splen- did leather travelling bags pre- sented to them. The large gathering was aug- mented by several members of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and members of the Science Service. They and both new and summer employees of the Farm were welcomed to the farewell party by Mr. MacLaren who said the occasion was both happy and unhappy as it marked the retirement of two of the old- est members of the staff. The recipients of the various gifts all expressed their apprecia- tion And both Mr. Schurman and Mr. Drlscoll offered personal Iri- butes to the fellow employees who had made their years at the Farm so worthwhile.
